The Bigger They Are, The Harder They Fall

There have been a lot of falls and spills in our house lately.  Last week Grace decided to start her walking journey.  She is taking quite a few steps before she falls on her bottom.  It is yet another exciting milestone in this year of firsts.  With this new found freedom, Grace is exploring every nook and cranny of our house.  She is also bumping into chairs, walls, windows, and pretty much anything that gets in her way.  She rarely cries when she falls, she just gets up and keeps going - I'm seeing more of her "go getter" attitude lately.  I appreciate her tenacity.

I was singing in the kitchen - being silly when the next thing I knew I was flat on my stomach on the floor.  But I know how to walk!!  But obviously not in heels.  Matt wasn't facing me and thought I had dropped something.  I did.  My ass onto the floor.  He asked if I was okay and I just laid there stunned and grumbled a yea.  I then heard Grace's little voice in the background and I knew she was wondering what just happened.  I quickly got up, with a little help from Matt, brushed my hands off and continued my morning routine.

I don't know why this silly little tumble carries so much significance to me but it does.  Over the past 10 1/2 months, I have been trying to teach Grace various skills - but, in true the teacher becomes the student fashion, she has taught me.  When she falls down, she gets right back up.   And with a little from her, I do too.

**Please look past the terrible parenting -- she has meat sauce stained all over her face and she isn't wearing socks on a 27 degree day, other than that - enjoy!

I get knocked down..
