2+1 = Tree

I feel like I am writing "first" a lot lately - but when you are in the throws of the first year with your first born - there are a plethora of firsts.  So while we are fa la la la-ing our way through our first holiday season I am soaking it all up.  After yesterday's parade - and realizing how close Christmas actually is - Matt and I decided this is the year we get our first Christmas tree.  We've hung lights up in the past but honestly found no need for a tree - but, that's right you guessed it.  Since it is Grace's first Christmas - we need a tree!  but do we really??  If I was more of a scrooge than I already am I would say bah humbug to the tree but I look at my daughter and my heart melts and I find myself overjoyed about purchasing a tree.

Matt and I had very different experiences growing up - one of which was our Christmas trees.  His family enlisted an artificial tree with motorized ornaments to ring in the holiday spirit.  Apparently, the artificial tree came to be because Matt and his siblings were allergic to pine trees.

My family would go into the wilderness of home depot and pick the first "non hideous" tree the four of us would agree on.  I swear one year - we picked the first tree we saw and were back in the car within 5 minutes.

While Matt and I debated fake or real - I told him to take claritin for a month, that the smell of pine would be filling our house.    You take the good with the bad - Matt hasn't sneezed once and the tree doesn't ooze that lovely pine smell like I remember.

We did go to home depot and we did agree that our tree is perfect for us...........and it only took 10 minutes.
