Lessons Learned

I'm always trying to learn a new lesson from life's experiences.  Lately - there has been a plethora of lessons that I am learning.  Not to toot my own horn, but I am constantly reflecting and wanting to improve myself  - What can I do to be a better person?  Did I work hard enough at the gym?  Does Matt know how much I love him?  This is not since adulthood, I've always reflected on my behavior ever since I was little - being a kid knowing each obstacle that life throws your way is an opportunity to learn and grow.  I've been told I have an old soul.  Of course, at 18 years old I didn't want to hear anything "old" but I'm glad I am an old soul and that my reflecting personality has helped me get closer to who I want to be.

No, I don't always handle a situation in a way I would've liked- if I did then there would be no self reflection needed - and then there would be no growth - and then I wouldn't be closer to who I want to be ---- blah blah blah - you get it - its a cycle!

I'm not going to say "As a mother" because I know how much that annoys Matt when women start sentences that way - However, as a mother - I hope to teach Grace to self reflect.  I want her to know there is a bigger world out there beyond her own.  Hopefully I can teach her a fraction of the lessons I learned from my parents..

Little Gracie girl - listen up:

  • Be true to yourself
  • If someone mistreats you - don't go down to their level- it won't make you feel better it will make you feel worse.
  • Think of others and how you affect them
  • Respect yourself - as well as everyone around you
  • Love don't hate - hate takes to much energy
  • Work hard, Play hard
  • Don't take yourself too seriously because if you do nobody will.
  • And when you look in the mirror - love that reflection looking back at you.
