In marriage there is sacrifice and compromise...
This morning Matt sacrificed two of his "holiest" of shirts and I compromised with only throwing out two of his shirts. You would think that we are vagabonds the way Matt dresses. They are his "gym" or "lounge" shirts as he calls them - but they are hideous to me. Even if he does just wear them to sweat in - have a little class, sir. Even if you are just hanging around the house with those shirts - not a sight I want to see. Don't get me wrong - I understand that clothes can hold a sentimental value, but when the shirt looks like it could disintegrate at any second, it's time.
For the last time this morning Matt cuddled with his "albino squirrel" and one of the "Texas" shirts before he relinquished his rights.
Suite & Tie
It wouldn't be fair if I didn't let Matt speak his "truth" - so, without further ado...
Matt's song choice
Do you have a pair of jeans that just feel so good... yet look so god-awful... tattered... practically destroyed... that you only wear them in the most comfortable situations at home? Meet my hole-infested t-shirts. Are they unacceptable to wear in casual settings such as the grocery store or walking around the block? Possibly. But am I wearing them there? Nope. Just at home. I'm not arguing to wear these shirts to our next gala... our first gala... I just want to wear them in the comfort of my own home. I guess that's too much to ask. Now I only have twelve holey shirts left. How is a man supposed to live in these conditions, under this tyrannical shirt-thrower-outer? This shirt-thrower-outer with jeans... pajama pants... slip-ons... other forms of clothing that are in equally-poor condition? The defense rests... in a comfy-ass t-shirt.
I still sport the red SSC Shirt from our first tournament. It looks like a chupacabra mistook it for a goat. (its a mexican thing...look it up) BUT ill be damned if ill ever throw the only cool colored shirt i ever got from the SSC. Also memories and such. Moral of the story is...STAY AWAY FROM A MANS CLOSET!
ReplyDeleteat least he wore them!!! Jose had tens of shirts that were tattered and hole-y and horrible but he refused to throw them away....I finally got him to do a few bags when we moved into a storage unit before Hawaii- and now that we went to Hawaii and realized we only needed 2 suitcases of clothes to live out of..he has decided to go through the two closets filled with clothes to make some more donations- It was a battle also- but he finally realized on his own which made it much easier! But damn, I know exactly how you feel!!
